Burns Cottage Museum achieves Official Status 29/05/2002

Burns Cottage Museum Burns Cottage Museum, for too long a neglected treasure has been recognised as worthy of the status of a fully registered museum, under the Government's Museum Registration Scheme. The museum, which houses the world's most important Burns collection, had to demonstrate a professional commitment to collections care and management, communication, education and access in order to meet the standards laid out. Registration will allow the museum to apply for grant aid to support projects such as its planned refurbishment as well as opening up access to expert help from agencies such as the Scottish Museums Council.
