Burns Monument Trust Logo Burns Monument Trust

Responsible for Burns Cottage & Museum and Burns Monument & Gardens. Since 1995 these have been managed as part of Burns National Heritage Park.

The Trust was established in 1814 to erect a Monument to Robert Burns in Ayrshire, which was opened in Alloway in 1823. In 1881 the Trust purchased Burns Cottage, which was then returned it to its original state. Over a hundred years of concentrated collecting has built up the world’s finest collection of original Burns documents, works of art and artefacts.

Friends of Burns National Heritage Park Logo Friends of Burns National Heritage Park

The Friends was set up in 2001 to build wider involvement in Burns National Heritage Park, to help preserve the Park’s priceless heritage and to promote the enjoyment and understanding of Robert Burns to future generations.

Any money raised by the Friends is dedicated to projects to preserve the cultural treasures held by the Park and to make them more accessible to visitors. At this time, this is pledged to the Museum Development Project. In return for their membership, Friends receive free entry to all parts of the Park, discount from our gift shops, a newsletter and access to special events and activities.

The Scottish Enterprise Network comprises of Scottish Enterprise National (SEN), based at 150 Broomielaw, on Atlantic Quay, Glasgow, and 12 Local Enterprise Companies (LECs) from Grampian to the Borders.

Scottish Enterprise is funded by the Scottish government through the Scottish Executive's Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Department. It is also expected to generate a proportion of its own revenue through returns on investment and the sale and lease of property. The key role of SE is, however, to act as catalyst, encouraging the private sector and other public bodies to contribute to projects which are of economic benefit to Scotland.

The Local Authority of South Ayrshire is situated in the south west of Scotland, and covers an area of 422 sq. miles extending from Troon and Symington in the north to Ballantrae and Loch Ryan in the south. The area includes the towns of Ayr, Prestwick, Troon, Maybole and Girvan, together with an extensive rural area containing many small, often remote villages. It is an attractive area, with a mix of agricultural land, woodlands and forests, and a long coastline, complementing its centres of population.
