Sung by more people, in more places and in more languages than any other song, with the possible exception of "Happy Birthday to You", Auld Lang Syne has become the world's song of parting and re-cementing of friendships.
With Auld Lang Syne, Burns showed his genius for re-working traditional songs and themes into a new masterpiece. The original manuscript is on display at the Burns Cottage Museum.
